A group of investors and Island businessmen are the new owners of the three Mad Marthaâs Ice Cream stores, purchasing the 50-year-old frozen novelty business and buildings for a total of $8.2 million. The buyers are led by Brook Katzen, owner of Little House Cafe and Island Cove Adventures mini golf, and Jim Shane, a real estate developer and Edgartown resident. Katzen and Shane will work as business co-managers, with Katzen conducting general operations. Katzenâs role in the purchase was first reported by The Times in April. ....

Harbor Homes is looking to create the first womenâs shelter on-Island. The clientâs choice program allows clients to identify a not-for-profit organization each time a property is bought or sold. The Martha s Vineyard Times Feiner Real Estate donates more than $19,000 to Hospice Jim Feiner of Feiner Real Estate presents a check to Hospice MV as part of his Client’s Choice program. Lucas Thors Feiner Real Estate is donating $19,144 to Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard through the Client’s Choice program the single largest donation the firm has made to date. The program allows Feiner Real Estate clients to identify a not-for-profit organization each time a property is bought or sold. Feiner Real Estate will donate 10 percent of the profits of the sale to the organization of choice. “We have given to probably almost 30 different nonprofits, but this is the fourth or fifth check to Hospice,” Jim Feiner told The Times at a brief outdoor ceremony in front of the Hospice building on Beach Road. ....
