Considering the increase in the number of COVID cases in Penukonda Revenue Division of the district, Sub-Collector T. Nishanthi has set up a control room at Penukonda to receive complaints from the public.

In a statement on Sunday, Ms. Nishanthi said people could dial: 8374057927 and get a response immediately. Availability of oxygen-supported beds was being keenly monitored, she said.
She added that surveillance and control measures against the disease were strengthened to contain the spread and awareness programmes were being conducted in all gram panchayats with the Tahsildars and other office staff taking the lead. ....

There was brisk and peaceful polling in Penukonda Revenue Division in Anantapur district and Adoni Division of Kurnool district on Sunday in the fourth phase of gram panchayat elections. By 10.30 a.m. the polling percentage in Anantapur was 46.36%, and Kurnool registered 40% polling.
A few steps taken by Superintendents of Police B. Satya Yesu Babu and Fakkeerappa Kaginelli in their respective districts ensured that there was no violence or untoward incident in the three phases of the panchayat elections. Officials make whirlwind tour of panchayats going for polls today
In a deviation from the earlier three phases of panchayat elections, not even a single sarpanch was elected unopposed (unanimous) in the fourth phase in the 184 gram panchayats of 13 mandals in the Penukonda Revenue Division of the district.
All arrangements have been made for the polling to begin on Sunday at 6.30 a.m. for 184 sarpanches and 1,765 ward members. Out of the 2,042 ward members to be elected, 276 have been elected unanimously. Election to one ward has been put off to a later date. ....
