New Zealand s parliament on Wednesday termed China s treatment of Uyghurs in Xinjiang province as severe human rights abuses.
All parties supported the motion that was tabled by ACT Party deputy leader Brooke van Velden. It was allowed for debate after dropping the word genocide from the text following an objection from the ruling Labour Party.
Our conscience requires that we support this motion, we know that a genocide is taking place . genocide does not require a war, it does not need to be sudden, it can be slow and deliberate and that is what is happening here, Velden said. ....

As many as 58 buses have been seized since the imposition of a ban on intercity transport in Sindh on April 30, said Sindh Transport Minister Awais Qadir Shah in a statement issued on Saturday.
He said the vehicles were seized during a crackdown on transporters and bus drivers flouting Covid-19-related standard operating procedures (SOPs).
According to Shah, three passenger buses were seized in Shikarpur and a penalty of Rs5,000 was imposed on each of them. Similarly, he said, five buses were seized in Larkana, with each of the transporters being fined Rs5,000. ....

LAHORE:A PML-N MPA tabled a resolution in Punjab Assembly regarding the dilapidated condition of Metro buses.
PML-N MPA Hina Pervaiz Butt submitted the resolution in the assembly secretariat here Friday. She in the resolution pointed out that the condition of the buses was deteriorated and has become pitiable.
“The ACs and windows of several metro buses have been broken and out of order,” she said in the resolution. She said that the Punjab government has not been able to implement the agreement to run new buses on the metro track and despite the tender the company could not bring new buses on track. Hina Pervaiz Butt, in the resolution, demanded that the agreement to bring new buses on track be implemented because it would have been difficult for the citizens to travel in metro buses without AC in the scorching heat. ....
