LAHORE: The Punjab government on the request of Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) has asked the Economic Affairs Division for early processing of financial facility for the country’s first ever mega trenchless sewerage project worth Rs14 billion.
Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has already committed a soft loan for laying a trenchless sewerage system from Larechs Colony to Gulshan-e-Ravi, Lahore. PC- I of the project was approved by ECNEC on 16 March, 2020 while pre-qualification of Project Management Consultant was completed in advance to save time.
The board approval by AIIB was expected in September, 2020, loan signing with AIIB was expected in October, 2020 and the award of work was expected by end of December, 2020. ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan, taking advantage of the Debt Service Suspension Initiative (DSSI), entered into negotiations with 21 creditor countries for debt suspension amounting to $1.7 billion, a statement said on Monday.
The G20 countries, together with the Paris Club creditors had announced to provide the much-needed fiscal space to stressed countries in their fight against COVID-19, it added. The government has successfully negotiated and concluded rescheduling agreements with 19 bilateral creditors, including members of the Paris Club.
Debt rescheduling agreements were signed with France, Switzerland, and China by the Economic Affair Division in Islamabad. The signing ceremony was witnessed by senior embassy officials of these countries. ....

Pakistan on Monday signed $526 million worth debt rescheduling agreements with three more members of the richest G-20 club, taking the overall benefit to below $1 billion.
The debt rescheduling agreements were signed with France, Switzerland and China by the Economic Affair Division, according to a handout issued by the Economic Affairs Ministry.
The agreement would result in delaying the repayments of $170 million to France, $9 million to Switzerland and $347 million to China. Pakistan is among the 76 poorest countries, mainly African nations that decided to avail the G-20 debt relief initiative. ....

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The government of Pakistan has successfully negotiated while concluding a rescheduling of agreements with 19 bilateral creditors, including members of the Paris Club.
The government of Pakistan, taking advantage of this initiative, entered into negotiations with 21 creditor countries for debt suspension amounting to $1.7 billion, said a press release issued by Ministry of Economic Affairs here on Monday.
The debt rescheduling agreements were signed with France, Switzerland and China by the Economic Affair Division at Islamabad.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: It may be recalled that the G20 Countries together with the Paris Club Creditors had announced a Debt Service Suspension Initiative (DSSI) to provide much needed fiscal space to stressed Countries in their fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Taking advantage of this initiative, the government of Pakistan entered into negotiations with 21 Creditor Countries for debt suspension amounting to US$ 1.7 billion.
