La Vergne Vice-Mayor Melisa Brown
(La VERGNE, TN)  At the conclusion of the La Vergne Board of Mayor and Alderman meeting on Tuesday evening (3/2/2021), Vice-Mayor Melisa Brown officially submitted her resignation. She recently decided to move to another city and, as such, can no longer serve on the La Vergne board. Her resignation takes effect on Wednesday, March 10, 2021.    
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen will vote during the April meeting on whether or not to accept Brown’s official resignation before naming a replacement to serve out the remainder of her term which ends in November, 2022. Following the appointment the board will also vote to name a new vice-mayor. ....

House turns down added guardrails for $10 million in COVID relief, sends bill to Senate

MONTPELIER — An amendment that would have added criteria for businesses receiving relief funds to show economic loss during the pandemic was voted down by the State House of Representatives on Friday, as the $78.8 million bill passed on third reading and was sent to the state Senate.
The relief bill, in addition to funds for recreation, school air quality and mental health support, includes $10 million for businesses that did not qualify for earlier federal CARES Act relief funds. When the initiative was left out of the Budget Adjustment Act, House leaders pledged they would work quickly to get it through the committee process and out the door. ....
