Practitioners and firms who provide engineering services without the requisite licences will be sanctioned, effective November 1, 2021.
In accordance with the Engineering Council Act 2011 (Act 819), all engineering professionals and firms offering engineering related services are to register and obtain licences from the Engineering Council Ghana before they can operate legally in the country.
This was announced at a press conference by the Ministry of Works and Housing in Accra yesterday. ....

Prioritise Human Life Over Economic Gains - Works And Housing Minister

Francis Asenso-Boakye, Minister of Works and Housing has urged engineers across the country to prioritize the life of humans over their economic gains in the discharge of their mandates.
He has, thus, charged the Engineering Council to effectively regulate the sector to weed out unqualified and unregistered practitioners to ensure the highest professional standards and improve quality of work delivery.
Speaking at a news conference in Accra on Wednesday organised by the Ministry and the Engineering Council, the sector Minister bemoaned the poor execution of some projects in the past, a situation he said had resulted in the loss of many lives and caused damages to properties. ....

Engineering Council To Clampdown On Unregistered, Unlicensed Engineers

The Engineering Council of Ghana says it will soon clamp down on engineers and engineering firms operating in the country without registration and licence.
This is to weed out unqualified and unregistered persons and firms in the industry to promote quality service delivery.
This follows the passage of the Engineering Council Regulation, Legislative Instrument L.I. 2410 (2020) by Parliament in October last year, which seeks to regularise engineering practice in the country to attain the highest professional standards and ensure efficient and quality work.
Mr Kwesi Abbey Sam, the Chairman of the Board of the Council, at a news conference in Accra, said the Council had given practitioners up to November 2021 to register and obtain the licence after, which it would crackdown on practitioners who failed to do so. ....
