Big-city Democrats want to defund the police for everyone but themselves

The coronavirus pandemic has shown that many elected officials across the country don’t think the rules apply to them. So, too, has the push to defund the police, exposing Democratic politicians in cities who think they are the only ones worthy of protection.
The latest example is Seattle councilwoman Lisa Herbold, who helped draft a proposal that would excuse misdemeanor crimes if they could be linked to poverty, mental illness, or addiction. The move would effectively legalize misdemeanors in Seattle, including theft, trespassing, and assault. ....
