Rivers gang specialising in selling human parts to foreigners arrested

The Port Harcourt Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said it arrested the leader of a syndicate which specialised in selling and buying of human organs.
A statement by the agency’s Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, said the suspect, identified as Emeka Ukaeje, was arrested in Ozuoba, on the outskirts of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The statement said the suspect went by different names to conceal his crime.
It said, “The syndicate leader, Ukaeje John Emeka (alias Dr Phil Mark, Dr Donald Phillip, Dr Wesley David), was arrested on April 16, 2021 at Rumukparali, Ozuoba,  Port Harcourt, Rivers State, based on established intelligence on his suspicious fraudulent Internet dealings. ....

The Port Harcourt Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 arraigned Enemo Okoria; Ebhofage Brown; Francis Dapagamo, a Tugboat DP28 and a company, Diesel Power Nigeria Limited before Justice J.K. Omotosho of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on two- count charges bordering on conspiracy and illegal dealing in petroleum product without an appropriate licence.
They all pleaded “not guilty” to the charges when they were read to them.
In view of their pleas, prosecution counsel, J.N Dogonyaro prayed the court for a date to commence trial. However, counsel to the defendants, Dionu Nnah for the 1st defendant, Peace Anucha for the 2nd defendant, G.C. Egule for the 3rd defendant, and B.O Koko for the 4th & 5th defendants informed the court of bail applications already filed on behalf of their clients. ....

Court jails two 'whistle blowers' in Port Harcourt

Justice I.M. Sani of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State has convicted and sentenced two false whistle blowers: Dominic Okem and Chukwunonso Igweonu, to two months imprisonment each for conspiracy and giving misleading and false information.
They were convicted on March 4, 2021 after pleading guilty to two-count charges bordering on giving false information, following their arraignment by the Port Harcourt Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
One of the charges read: “That you Dominic Okem and Chukwunonso Igweonu on or about the 22nd Day of January, 2021 within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did conspire between yourselves to give false information to officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to wilt: huge fund were found at Enu/Akwu Street, Federal Housing Estate, in Calabar Cross Rivers State, which information turned out to be false, untrue/misleading and ....
