A 100-bed Covid Care Centre with 70 oxygenated bed facility was inaugurated at Seth Mohandas Tulasidas Maternity Hospital on Jhansi Lakshmi Bai Road in Mysuru on Thursday.
Set up jointly by Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) and Cauvery Hospital, it was inaugurated by Minister for Cooperation S.T. Somashekar, who is also in charge of Mysuru district.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Somashekar said the facility will have 10 ICU beds in addition to 70 oxygenated beds. Ten beds each will be reserved for Corona Warriors and pregnant women. ....

Amidst the increasing demand for medical oxygen in the current wave of COVID-19, Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri and Commissioner of Police Chandragupta, accompanied by the officials from the Office of Drug Controller, Mysuru, inspected a few units here that produce and refill medical oxygen.
The inspection comes after a recent meeting with the oxygen suppliers by the Deputy Commisioner where she directed them to ensure uninterrupted supplies for medical reasons and hospitals in view of rapid surge in infections.
The delegation went around the units in the Hebbal industrial area and spoke to the people running them on the steps taken by them for rationalising the supplies. ....

Markets swarm with people during the window period
The city police is cracking down on unauthorised movement of vehicles during the lockdown hours amidst surge in the number of COVID-19 positive cases.
Nearly 300 vehicles were seized in the last 24 hours alone and the Commissioner of Police Chandragupta himself was on the roads on Friday.
The seized vehicles include autorickshaws, goods vehicles, 28 cars and over 250 two-wheelers. The owners of the vehicles have been booked for violation of the Janata curfew norms.
Mr. Chandragupta said though there is a window between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. for purchase of essential commodities many motorists were seen on the streets beyond the stipulated hours and hence the vehicles were seized. ....

Minister for Health and Medical Education K. Sudhakar on Thursday warned that action would be taken against officers of the Office of Drug Controller here if Remdesivir injections were found to be sold in the black market.
The Minister told the officers to take stringent measures against black marketing of the drug amidst the surge for its demand for treating COVID-19 patients. ....
