Cong wants to extend lockdown by 7 days | Ranchi News

RANCHI: Congress, a constituent of the ruling Mahagathbandhan faction in the state, on Tuesday appealed chief minister Hemant Soren to extend the weeklong lockdown by seven days to curb the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the state.
With two days left for the ‘health safety week’ to come to an end, sources in the state government hinted the duration might be extended but a final call will be taken by Soren.
Congress spokespersons Alok Dubey and Lal Kishorenath Shahdeo in a statement said, “Going by the current spate of Covid cases, extension of the current lockdown is the need of the hour.” ....

Jharkhand government’s plan to reserve 75% jobs for locals in the private sector
RANCHI: The state government’s plan to reserve 75% jobs for locals in the private sector has evoked a mixed response from Jharkhand Inc with many saying that even if the move has a noble objective of addressing unemployment, it could pose problems for industrial growth and investments if such a law is enacted without proper skilling of the workforce.
To fulfil its poll promise, the Jharkhand cabinet on Friday decided to reserve jobs for locals in private firms for up to a salary of Rs 30,000. A formal bill will soon be placed in the state assembly. ....

Two persons from city arrested
The city police busted a suspected hawala racket and arrested two persons near the Telugu Talli flyover on Saturday night. The police seized unaccounted cash of about ₹70 lakh, in the denomination of ₹500 and ₹2,000 notes from them.
The arrested were identified as Roshan Kumar Jain (49) and O. Srinivas, both from the city. A few more suspected to be involved in the case are yet to be arrested. ....
