YSRCP Candidate Gurumoorthy Wins Tirupati LS Seat

TIRUPATI: The ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) is all slated to win and retain the Tirupati Lok Sabha seat as its candidate Dr M Gurumoorthy established a comfortable lead over the TDP and BJP by noon on Sunday. By 3:45 PM the YSRCP candidate so far received 2, 77,000 votes and is slated to win the Tirupati Lok Sabha by-elections with a huge majority. The counting of votes is still underway and the numbers of votes could increase further and the majority win.

The YSRCP candidate in his maiden election polled over 2.29 lakh votes as against about 1.33 lakh votes polled by his nearest Telugu Desam Party nominee Panabaka Lakshmi when 4.10 lakh votes were counted, according to Nellore District Collector and Returning Officer K.V.N. Chakradhar Babu. ....

AP Cabinet Approves Return Of 2,180 Acres Land Notified For Kakinada SEZ To Farmers

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has resolved the 15-year old issue of farmers lands and returned 2,180 acres of land notified for acquisition for the Kakinada Special Economic Zone (KSEZ) to them on Tuesday. This was also one of the promises made by the Chief Minister to the agitating farmers during the padayatra when he was the Leader of the Opposition.
The Chief Minister had set up a committee headed by Agriculture Minister Kurasala Kannababu to resolve the problem of farmers in Kakinada SEZ as per his promise. The committee consulted with the farmers as well as a committee, which was fighting against the Kakinada SEZ and made recommendations for the benefit of farmers. ....

AMARAVATI: Direct Benefit transfer (DBT) has come in like a boon to the beneficiaries, with Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s proactive initiatives and transferring the money directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries, shunting out the role of middlemen and infusing transparency into the system in the purest form.
Not very long ago, the system was different.
