Dangerous speeds clocked in Bruce Highway operation


Motorists are urged to take more care on the roads particularly with recent weather events making driving conditions more difficult.
There can be no excuse for placing other people at risk on the roads by driving at high speed.
Sgt Flynn said police were also concerned with the emergence of fatigued driving as a contributing factor in road crashes.
The chances of being involved in a serious traffic crash when driving tired are high with slower reaction times, reduced vigilance and higher risk taking, he said.

Stolen tipper truck turns up undamaged 16 days later

A tipper truck stolen from a recreational business at Goorganga Plains has been found undamaged 16 days after it was reported missing.
Police appealed for information on February 2 about the theft after offenders allegedly broke into the business on Lascelles Ave the night before.
A Mitsubishi tipper truck was taken from the site while buildings and caravans at the scene were also forcefully entered and searched.
Police advised the tipper truck was found undamaged about 4pm on Thursday at Laguna Quays.

Second alleged knife incident in Proserpine in a week


The first driver was pulled over on Kelsey Creek Rd about 3.30pm on Friday.
The 73-year-old Kelsey Creek man allegedly recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.095 per cent and is due to face court on March 1.
Later that night, police intercepted a 47-year-old Crystal Brook man on Main St, Proserpine, and he allegedly returned a 0.13 BAC.
But the highest alleged blood alcohol reading was recorded about 3am Monday, after a Bowen man was pulled over on Shute Harbour Rd at Mount Julian.
The 31-year-old man allegedly recorded a 0.216 BAC and is due to face court on March 8.
