8,000 primary teachers pressure govt for full employment


Over 8 000 Initial Primary Teacher Education (IPTE) graduates of the thirteenth and fourteenth cohorts are on government’s neck pressuring it to fully employ them arguing the country is wasting “too much human resource,” especially in the Ministry of Education.
Some of the IPTE 14 teachers, who on Tuesday presented a letter addressed to Lilongwe City Council Chief Executive Officer John Leo Chome, said apart from wasting “crucial human resource,” the Tonse Alliance-led government was not walking its talk on its promise to offer one million jobs in its first twelve months in office.

The letter, signed by the group’s chairperson Brighton Nyoni, has faulted the government for failing to take heed of their calls to employ them years after completing their training. ....

Form Four leavers have been advised to apply for diploma teaching jobs.

(pictured) said asked Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) holders wishing to be considered for admission to Diploma Teacher Training Colleges to apply for the positions between from April 6.
Applications will close on April 20, 2021.
KCSE holders to apply for either a Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE) or Diploma in Early Childhood Development Teacher Education (DECTE), the Principal Secretary for Early Learning and Basic Education,  Dr Jwan said.

Applicants for a Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE) should have a KCSE Mean Grade of C (Plain) or its equivalent with a C Plain in English, Kiswahili, Mathematics, and also a C in any of the Humanities subject and Sciences subjects. ....

Education Ministry Announces Application Dates for Teacher Training

Education Ministry headed by CS George Magoha has released application dates for students seeking to join Teacher Training Colleges.
In a statement dated Monday, April 5, the ministry noted that it was ready to begin receiving applications from students seeking to join the colleges for Diploma courses beginning Tuesday, April 6.
The report further indicated that the application exercise would last for two weeks until April Tuesday, April 20, 2021.
Speaking to the press, Early Learning and Basic Education Principal Secretary Dr. Julius Jwan said the applicants were free to apply for a Diploma course in either Primary Teacher Education (PTE) or Early Childhood Development Teacher Education (ECTE). ....
