TRC welcomes pledge to advance Toowoomba Railway Parklands project
Toowoomba Region Mayor Paul Antonio today (July 14) welcomed a pledge by the Federal Member for Groom Garth Hamilton to fight for funding that could help Council progress plans for the next stage of the transformative Toowoomba Railway Parklands project.
Mayor Antonio said Council strongly supported any group that wanted to provide ideas, financial support and constructive concepts that would advance Council’s master plan for the inner city site.
“Council’s master plan has been in place for some years and any offer of financial assistance towards constructing the next stage of this exciting development is welcomed,” Mayor Antonio, who also chairs Toowoomba Regional Council’s Economic Development portfolio, said.
James MacDonnell and Mark Holmes are also listed as directors at Marmac Childcare. Mr Mason, who with his wife Janette has owned the Dalton Drive centre for eight years, said his business operated at 80 per cent capacity. He said councils needed to better consider demand on childcare services when approving new centres. There is a school of thought is that the Maroochydore city centre will create demand for services like childcare, he said. That development has been happening over 10 years and we have two finished buildings, it s a very slow build. Mr Mason said there were three new centres approved for Maroochydore, equating to more than 300 additional childcare places.
