AU slaps show-cause notice on dean of law faculty | Allahabad News

Prayagraj: Allahabad University administration has issued a show-cause notice to the dean of law faculty on the charges of visiting the house of a faculty member during odd hours along with students and trying to pressurise the senior proessor for expediting the process of conducting the last semester exams.
The notice, served to Prof J S Singh on July 2, has been signed by the varisty’s registrar Prof N K Shukla (TOI is in possession of the copy of notice). Prof Singh has been given a week’s time to respond to the notice.
The notice mentions that, ‘It has come to the notice of the competent authority that you (Prof Singh) had gone to the house of a senior professor, who is neither from faculty of law nor controller of examinations, along with a group of students to pressurise him to expedite the conduction of last semester examinations of faculty of law during odd hours. AU closed till April 30, all exams postponed | Allahabad News

Prayagraj: At a time when the city is witnessing record breaking surge in corona positive cases and more staff members, including both teaching and non-teaching, of Allahabad University are getting infected by Covid-19, the AU administration has decided to seal the entire premises till April 30.
Besides, all exams that were to be held through online mode from April 30, have been postponed till further notice.
On April 9th, AU Vice Chancellor had ordered closure of AU’s main campus and that of all the constituent colleges till April 20. Likewise, all the ongoing exams too were postponed by the varsity. However, last week the controller of examination, had announced that exams would be held from April 30 onwards through online mode. ....

All AU exams postponed, campus closed | Allahabad News

Prayagraj: In view of the rising Covid-19 cases, the Allahabad University authorities have postponed all exams being held at AU and its constituent colleges online till further notice but online teaching will continue.
Besides, AU and its constituent colleges have been completely closed till April 21. The decision to open the campus would depend on the prevailing condition after the said date.
According to assistant public relation officer of AU, Chitranjan Kumar, the decision to this effect was taken by the varsity authorities on Friday following a meeting held virtually. Presided over by vice-chancellor Prof Sangita Srivatava, the meeting was attended by all deans, dean (R&D), controller of examinations and registrar. ....

AU prof suspended last year for Markaz links reinstated | Allahabad News

Prayagraj: Authorities of Allahabad University (AU) have revoked the suspension of Prof Mohamad Shahid of the department of Political Science. Prof Shahid was suspended by AU on April 21 last year as he was accused by the district police of hiding the information about his visit to Nizamuddin Markaz and later arranging the stay of nine foreign nationals in the city who had attended Markaz with him.
However, during the period of suspension, Prof Shahid was paid subsistence allowance as applicable, given the rules of the University of Allahabad and financial rules set by the government of India.
Now, almost 10 months later, an order revoking his suspension was signed by the varsity registrar, Prof N K Shukla on Thursday. The order, a copy of which is with TOI, mentions that in the matter pertaining to Prof Shahid, an enquiry committee was constituted by the vice-chancellor under the chairmanship of Prof Harsh Kumar, AU’s proctor. ....
