MoU signed to promote quality medical research

MARDAN: The Bacha Khan Medical College (BKMC) on Friday inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Khyber Medical University (KMU) to encourage and promote quality research to develop new medicines and procedures to help cure ailments.
KMU Vice-chancellor Dr Zia ul Haq and BKMC Dean Prof Dr Muhammad Fazil signed the MoU in a ceremony.
The vice-chancellor and the dean inaugurated KMU’s sub-office of Research, Innovation and Commercializtion (ORIC) at the BKMC.
The dean hoped that the BKMC would now serve as the regional hub for the Nowshera Medical College in Nowshera, Gajju Khan Medical College in Swabi and Saidu Sharif Medical College Swat for carrying out research and hosting training activities while the KMU would provide access to the faculty members of the BKMC to the varsity digital library and to software.

MARDAN: The Board of Governors (BoG) of the Medical Teaching Institution (MTI) Mardan Medical Complex on Saturday approved arranging more personal protective equipment (PPEs) to protect the staff performing duty in the Covid-19 high-risk zone.
The BoG made the decision due to an increase in the demand for the PPEs for the health professionals.
The BoG directed that all the staff should be provided the necessary equipment to protect them from contracting the virus.
Chairman BoG Dr Syed Fazle Hadi chaired the meeting held through video link. The BoG members Tahir Ali Khan, Dr Shahid Khattak, Attaullah Khan Toru and senior journalist Rahimullah Yusufzai participated in the meeting.

MARADAN: The Board of Governors (BoG) of Medical Teaching Institution (MTI) Mardan on Friday directed the hospital administration to ensure uninterrupted oxygen supply to the health facility.
The BoG said that the demand for oxygen has increased after the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
It emphasized the need for arranging oxygen in ample quantity and adopting a proper monitoring mechanism to check the supply chain round the clock to avoid any human tragedy, more after the tragedy at the Khyber Teaching Hospital, Peshawar where six Covid-19 patients died due to disruption of oxygen supply.
