KUALA LUMPUR: Improved terms in the wage subsidy program or PSU 4.0 will save more jobs including those in the M40 group as well as businesses under the National People’s Well-Being and Economic Recovery Package (Pemulih).
The programme would definitely lessen the burden of small and medium enterprises (SME) in areas such as operational overheads when there is low or no business transactions during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Amy Seok, the Chief Executive Officer of Money Compass Media (M) Sdn Bhd, said today.
“Letting go of talents will be the last thing a business would do if given a choice,” she told Bernama in response to the government’s RM150 billion Pemulih package announced last week. ....

MEF: Thanks for Pemulih but nothing beats going back to business

PETALING JAYA: While the newly unveiled RM150 billion Economic Recovery and People’s Protection Package (Pemulih) would provide support to those in need, the best way forward for employers would be to allow businesses to reopen.
Saying this, MEF President Datuk Dr Syed Hussain Syed Husman commented that the Pemulih package that targeted the rakyat, businesses and the vaccination programme would only provide temporary relieve.
“Some employers would benefit from the extended and simplified wage subsidy programme, the loan assistance to SMEs and micro enterprises, the two-month exemption from paying levy to HRD Corp for companies not allowed to operate during the MCO, and the automatic approval for loan moratorium – which hopefully is also interest-free,” he said in a statement yesterday. ....

PETALING JAYA: The RM150 billion Economic Recovery and People’s Protection Package (Pemulih) may benefit some contractors to some extent, the Master Builders Association Malaysia (MBAM) said today.
This includes the allowance of price changes or Variation of Price (VOP) for government projects following a significant increase in the cost of building materials until Dec 31, assistance for local G1 – G4 contractors to carry out small-scale government projects by conducing lottery and tendering processes, enabling the use of new civil engineering and building as well as electrical work rate schedules, and the allowance of Extension of Time (EOT) or extension of contract on government projects for supply and service contracts affected by the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) subject to contract clause, it said. ....

PETALING JAYA: The Small & Medium Enterprises Association (Samenta) has welcomed the RM150 billion Economic Recovery and People’s Protection Package (Pemulih) but pointed out that it will only provide temporary relief.
Its Policy and Government Relations chairman, Datuk William Ng, congratulated the government for allowing a six-month loan moratorium for all individuals and micro-enterprises.
However, he urged the government to extend this moratorium automatically to all SMEs, instead of leaving it to the banks to decide on a “case-to-case” basis.
“SMEs continue to have problems getting moratorium, as banks view missed payments negatively, resulting in many SMEs being told they are not eligible, before they can even submit their requests formally,” he said in a statement yesterday. ....
