New Zealand will donate more than 1.6 million Covid-19 doses through an international vaccine sharing programme, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has revealed.
This is enough to vaccinate 800,000 people – many of whom will be health workers and vulnerable people in the Pacific.

LAHORE: The polio eradication programme of Punjab is back on track through increased vaccine uptake to move towards the ultimate goal of polio eradication in the province.
“The increased vaccine uptake could not have been possible without the support of parents coupled with greater government ownership, coordination, extensive monitoring and accountability,” said Sundas Irshad, head of Punjab’s polio programme.
Talking to The News, Sundas Irshad said that no wild polio virus case has been reported from the province in 2021 so far, and only 14 samples tested positive in the first three months. “Reaching out to every child is essential to achieve the goal of polio eradication, which has been a great challenge for the programme,” she said, adding that the rapid movement of population among cities and other reasons result in substantial number of unvaccinated children. ....

MANSEHRA: The district administration has launched the Insaf Sahulat mobile programme to drop the essential goods on the subsidised prices at the doorsteps of buyers free of cost.
“Around 50 pickup vehicles brought in from different departments would drop the essential goods on the subsidised prices at houses of the customers in parts of the district,” Dr Qasim Ali Khan, the deputy commissioner, told the inaugural gathering of the programme here on Thursday.
He said that the vehicles were provided by the municipal administration and district Food Department and utility stores corporations.
He said that families of those who had contracted the novel coronavirus would also be supplied free of cost ration under the Insaf Sahulat mobile programme. “We have been taking all possible measures to provide the relief in prices of all essential commodities in the month of Ramazan and otherwise,” ....

LALAMUSA: The District Development Committee Wednesday approved the Community Development Program phase III with the consultation of Members of Punjab Assembly.
The approval was granted during a meeting chaired by DC Saif Anwar Jappa and the approved projects are 110, 8 roads in rural areas, and reconstruction of dangerous conditioned building of two hospitals. According to the projects, Highways Department will construct 8 roads with the expenditure of Rs 179 million.
With the expenditure of Rs 420 million, 57 schemes of local government and community development have been given approval. Water Supply Line will be also laid in 12 union councils too. 43 schemes of Public Health Engineering Dept have been also given approval on which Rs 370 million will be spent. ....
