Some agitated Ghanaians threatened to embark on a demonstration on Sunday, May 9 to protest Presdident Akufo-Addo s governance but their plans were foiled by the Police. The Police stopped them on grounds that there are currently restrictions on public gatherings and for fear of spreading COVID-19 wouldn t allow them to go on their protest march. The Police acquired a restraining order from the High Court to prohibit the conveners of the protest. But the action of the Police has received a public backlash and without cowering, a section of the citizens embarked on a virtual protest. Joining the people to lambast the Police is the National Chairman of the Progressive People s Party (PPP). ....
National Chairman of the Progressive People s Party (PPP), Nana Ofori Owusu has blasted the Police for preventing the #fixthecountry conveners from embarking on demonstration. The conveners planned to go on protest march on Sunday, May 9, 2021 but the Police stopped them. An Accra High Court restrained the conveners following an affidavit filed by the Police against the conveners. According to the court writ, the conveners, their associates and all parties interested in taking the protest march are prohibited from embarking on any demonstration on Sunday, 9th May, 2021 or any other date until the restriction on public gathering is lifted by the appropriate authority . ....
The Coalition of National Youth Organizers, an association of Youth Organizers of four political parties has called on Government to admit the challenges of the country to be able to fix them. The political parties involved are; the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), People’s National Convention (PNC), All Progressive Congress (APC), and the Progressive People’s Party (PPP). In a press statement released to the GNA in Cape Coast, Mr Jude Balma for GCPP said he was particularly pained about the unemployment rate among the youth who he described as the “fulcrum “for developing any serious country because they had the energy and zeal to push the future of the country. ....
Wesley Girls brouhaha: Brigitte Dzogbenuku blasts Methodist Church LISTEN 3 HOURS AGO Brigitte Dzogbenuku, the 2020 presidential candidate of the Progressive People’s Party, has taken a swipe at Methodist Church and its role in preventing Muslim students in Wesley Girls High School from fasting during Ramadan. Speaking on The Big Issue on Citi TV/FM, Mrs. Dzogbenuku, an alum of Wesley Girls High School, suggested that the Methodist Church was putting the school in a bad light. “This is a bunch of men in leadership taking decisions for an all-girls school headed by a woman,” she said. In her view, “there is no doubt there must be some intimidation” of Wesley Girls High School from the Methodist Church because “there is a lot of ego at play.” ....
