Sinas orders probe of Makati City police for alleged bungling of Dacera case

“I have directed the director of the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management (Maj. Gen Marni Marcos) to conduct a separate inquiry and recommend to us not later than January 13, their findings on any liability of the Makati City police officers involved in the ongoing investigation on the Dacera case,” said Sinas in a press briefing at Camp Crame in Quezon City.
The Makati City police is being accused of bungling the case of Dacera over its allegations of rape with homicide.
Dacera was found dead in an empty bathtub of a Makati City hotel at noon on January 1 after a New Year’s party. ....

Probe on Dacera case to focus on forensic evidence

The investigation on the circumstances that led to the death of flight attendant Christine Angelica Dacera will be continued by the Philippine National Police (PNP) even after the Makati City Prosecutors Office ordered the release of the people tagged as suspects for insufficient evidence on the case of rape with homicide.
Brig. Gen. Vicente Danao, Jr., director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), said what happened only bolstered the determination of the police to further look into the case to shed light on the incident.
He, however, admitted that the case filed by the Makati City Police does not stand on a firm ground when he pored over the documents submitted to the Prosecutor’s Office. ....

House probe on PNP's 'mishandling' of Dacera case pushed – Manila Bulletin

The House Committee on Public Order and Safety has been urged to investigate the Philippine National Police’s supposed “mishandling” of Christine Angelica Dacera’s case.
Gabriela Women’s partylist Rep. Arlene Brosas led the filing of House Resolution No. 1458 seeking thorough investigation of the case to ensure its “fair and competent” resolution.
“The PNP’s mishandling of Dacera’s case [poses] the biggest stumbling block to the quest for truth and justice over Dacera’s death; it should stop using the case to rehabilitate its image if justice must be really served,” the resolution read.
Under the resolution, Brosas and five other Makabayan lawmakers chided the PNP for giving unverified and inaccurate information and the premature conclusions over Dacera’s death, which they said, do not help in resolving the case. ....
