The COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown badly impacted the economy, with many losing lives, jobs and employment. The state government and civic authorities gave concession in stamp duties and also provided amnesty schemes to defaulter developers but refused to provide any relief in property taxes.
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) also did not pay any heed despite demand from various citizens’ groups. PMC reasoned that it is the only major source of income to run the civic body. ....
