Mumbai: Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Nawab Malik on Monday confirmed that the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches would be going ahead in Mumbai as planned and there would be no hurdles.
His confirmation comes a day after it was announced that Maharashtra would be entering weekend lockdown from Friday 8 pm to Monday 7 pm to curb the spread of Covid-19.
“The permission has been given for the matches with restrictions, the crowd would not be allowed to enter the stadiums. Whoever is participating in the IPL, would have to stay at one place in isolation. There can be no overcrowding, we have made this clear and on this basis, we have given the permission,” Malik told ANI. ....

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 5 (ANI): Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Nawab Malik on Monday said the state will enter strict weekend lockdown from Monday, 8 pm to Monday, 7 am, while essential services and transportation will be allowed.
In view of the increasing COVID cases in the state, Maharashtra cabinet has made some strict rules and they will be enforced from 8 pm tomorrow. The night curfew will be in force from 8 pm to 7 am. During day time, section 144 will be in force from tomorrow prohibiting more than five people to gather at one place. A decision has been taken to shut down malls, restaurants, bars. Take away services will continue. Essential services will be allowed. Government offices will open with 50 per cent capacity. Industries will continue. Sameer Khan has been sent to judicial custody in connection with a drug case.
Last week, Khan was arrested after detailed interrogation that lasted the whole day.
The arrest was made after the seizure of a large quantity of 200 kgs Ganja from one courier at Bandra West.
Today, he was taken for medical examination and then produced before a court.
The
Esplanade court sent him to 14-day judicial custody.
In a tweet on January 14, Malik said, Nobody is above the law and it should be applied without any discrimination. Law will take its due course and justice will prevail. I respect and have immense faith in our judiciary. ....
