The 56-year-old patient died on Saturday due to COVID-19 complications during treatment, an officer said.
Following the death of the patient, two of his sons came to the hospital and assaulted a woman doctor and two other members of staff, he said.

Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Tuesday adjourned the hearing on a PIL seeking guidelines for the protection of doctors across Maharashtra from being assaulted by the families of patients, for a week.
A bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Girish Kulkarni while hearing a PIL filed by Pune-based Dr Rajeev Joshi through advocate Nitin Deshpande, allowed some associations to intervene in the matter.
The bench has allowed the association of medical consultants from Pune to intervene into the matter and place its stand on the issue. The judges have also allowed association of hospitals as a party to be heard in the proceedings. ....

Existing legal provisions enough to address violence against doctors: Maha

The Maharashtra government has told the Bombay High Court that the existing legal provisions, including the 2010 Maharashtra Medicare Service Persons Act, are enough to deal with rising incidents of violence against doctors and medical staff.
In an affidavit filed in the court on Monday, the state government submitted that the above Act and provisions of the Indian Penal Code were enforced in cases of relatives or acquaintances of patients assaulting doctors and hospital staff.
At least 302 cases of assault on healthcare professionals had been registered across the state between January 2017 and March 2021, the state submitted.
Of these, 231 cases alone were registered in 2020, it was stated. ....
