BBMP) to augment the much-ignored health infrastructure. In what could be termed as a first-of-its-kind approach, the civic body has chalked out a Rs 601 crore plan to address gaps in the City’s healthcare system across all three levels – primary, secondary and tertiary. Officials now await the
State government’s assistance to strengthen healthcare facilities.
Key proposals submitted to the government include 57 primary healthcare centres (PHCs), 11 secondary centres with 50 to 100 beds and three tertiary centres like ....

Amidst the sea of bad news, a private hospital in the city had a happy tale to share of how multiple agencies came together to save 30 patients.
Shreyas Hospital, Mahalakshmi Layout, in a release, shared details of the incident that unfolded late Wednesday night when one of their oxygen cylinders started leaking while another was in queue to be refilled at Whitefield.
The hospital management reached out to Sonu Sood Foundation, which helped the hospital’s cylinder bypass the queue. While staff waited for arrival of the refilled cylinder in the presence of the Mahalakshmi Layout police and Fire Department, the office of the drug controller arranged for emergency cylinders from a neighbouring hospital, the management said. ....

90-minute power failure leaves COVID-19 patients gasping for oxygen

They were in home isolation but dependent on oxygen concentrators
A 90-minute power failure in some areas of ward number 66 on Monday night put the lives of over 20 COVID-19 patients at risk. These patients were in home isolation and had been using oxygen concentrators.
The oxygen concentrators run on power. Without backup, families of most patients went through anxious moments till power was restored.
According to residents, power went off at 9.09 p.m. on Monday in areas in and around Rajajinagar, Mahalakshmi Layout and Malleswaram. It was restored at 10.40 p.m. after repeated calls to the jurisdictional Bescom officials.
A few patients residing on Subramanyanagar Main road, Milk Colony and Gayatrinagar told ....
