GMC to introduce house tax for Raj Nagar Ext township | Noida News

Over 35,000 flats have now come under the ambit of house tax
Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC) has decided to introduce house tax in Raj Nagar Extension township, despite stiff opposition from the residents and RWAs.
With this, over 35,000 flats have now come under the ambit of house tax, and GMC hopes to generate over Rs 3 crore revenue annually.
The RWAs are of the view that the civic body is not entitled to impose house tax as it has not yet taken over the township. However, the GMC says that until the handover of the society, it will not levy sewer and water tax but is well within its rights to impose house tax. ....

E-buses set to ply in Gzb from Oct | Noida News

GHAZIABAD: Electric bus service in the city is expected to start in October with vehicles plying on six routes in the first phase. The buses will not only connect important places across the city, but also provide direct connectivity to Noida and Delhi.
Around 50 vehicles will hit the roads initially and work to build a depot and a charging station at Akbarpur Behrampur is almost over, officials have said. Electric buses are crucial to Ghaziabad, which is one of the most polluted cities in the country.
The depot will be equipped with charging points for 25 buses at a time. While the longest route is between Anand Vihar and Muradnagar (40km), the shortest is between Tilla Mod and New Bus Adda (12km). ....

GHAZIABAD: Soon, each and every property in Ghaziabad may have a unique ID.
The Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC) plans to issue a 17-digit identification number to every plot of land in the city, including residential and commercial. The unique number will denote the area and other information where the property is based. There are an estimated five lakh properties in Ghaziabad.
Officials said the aim is to help the civic body compute property taxes in a more precise manner, which differs from area to area, and will also help owners find out taxes pending on their land at a click of a button. In the long run, this will help the GMC realise maximum revenues in the form of property tax. ....

GMC to set up rainwater harvesting systems in 200 parks, govt buildings | Noida News

The GMC has 1,246 parks under its control and by next year rainwater harvesting systems will be installed in all the parks.
GHAZIABAD: The Ghaziabad municipal corporation (GMC) will start installing rainwater harvesting systems in over 200 parks under its jurisdiction to save the depleting ground water level. The systems are already in place in 89 parks.
Municipal commissioner Mahendra Singh Tanwar said, “We will install rainwater harvesting systems in 200 of our parks which is in addition to the 89 parks where the system is already in place. This will help us recharge the groundwater level in the city,” Tanwar added.

GMC board gives nod to 15% house tax hike | Noida News

GHAZIABAD: The Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC) on Tuesday cleared a proposal to hike house tax by 15% with immediate effect. The proposal was met with opposition from a few councillors, but was cleared by the board eventually.
“In 2017, the GMC board had passed a proposal to hike house tax by 5% every year, but applicable once in two years. But the new tax regime did not come into effect for some reason or the other. This time, it was delayed by the pandemic. In keeping with the formula, the 15% hike was passed by the GMC board on Tuesday. The new rate will come into effect from now,” said Mahendra Singh Tanwar, the municipal commissioner. ....
