Creation of a Department of Climate Change pushed

Camarines Sur 2nd District Rep. Luis Raymund “LRay” Villafuerte Jr. has sought the creation of a Department of Climate Change that would work all-year-round to build the country’s capacity to manage climate change, keenly monitor and assess climate change policies and activities, and put in place effective mechanisms even before disasters occur.

He filed House Bill No. 8181 or “the proposed Department of Climate Change Act” to promote a simplified, strategic, systematic, continuous, comprehensive, inclusive, and integrated approach to climate change, and prevent or deter the loss of lives and the social, economic, cultural, and environmental assets of the country. ....

61 LGUs participate in People's Survival Fund 'clinic'

QUEZON CITY, Dec. 22 (PIA) The Climate Change Commission (CCC) recently conducted a virtual PSF Clinic attended by planning and investment officer of 61 local government units from across the country who trained on accessing the People’s Survival Fund (PSF).
Speakers during the PSF Clinic included Dr. Antonio L. Fernandez, Senior Technical Expert of CCC, Dr. Felino P. Lansigan, Professor Emeritus of Statistics and Environmental Science at the University of the Philippines-Los Baños and member of the National Panel of Technical Experts (NPTE), and Ms. Jean Paula Regulano, Development Management Officer of the CCC-PSF Unit, to share knowledge on how to develop adaptation projects for funding under the PSF. ....
