Religious harmony: Ulema pledge cooperation for implementing code of conduct

ISLAMABAD: Ulema, mashaykh and religious scholars have vowed cooperation for implementing Paigham-e-Pakistan code of conduct for creating religious harmony in the country. They appealed to people to abide by the code of conduct, saying that the Paigham-e-Pakistan draft was a unanimously approved document, prepared in the light of the constitution of Pakistan. “To introduce the Paigham-e-Pakistan draft among masses, public gatherings, ulema and mashaykh conventions, joint gatherings of leadership of different religions and religious sects would be held across country,” said Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council and Special Aide to Prime Minister on Religious Harmony and Middle East Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi while addressing the Paigham-e-Pakistan action plan conference at the International Islamic University Islamabad here on Thursday. ....

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan Monday reaffirmed the highest priority accorded by the government to China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the firm commitment to expeditiously complete CPEC projects, which will open up tremendous opportunities for increased economic growth and development in the region and beyond.
In this connection, Chinese Ambassador Nong Rong called on Imran Khan. The subjects covered during the meeting included Pakistan-China bilateral relations, including CPEC; 70thanniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties; vaccine cooperation; and high-level bilateral exchanges.
The prime minister appreciated Chinese leadership and conveyed his warm greetings for President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang. Emphasising the time-tested all-weather strategic co-operative partnership, the prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s deep commitment to further enhance and broade ....

ISLAMABAD: Access to social media networks remained blocked for hours on Friday after the government imposed a blanket ban as part of its security plan to maintain law and order across the country and prevent violent protests in the wake of its decision to ban the Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) along with a clampdown on its activists.
While the restriction on Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube and Telegram remained in place from 11am till 3pm without prior intimation to users, Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed later in a video statement apologised to citizens for inconvenience it caused and reasoned that the measure had become essential as some [violent] protests were feared. ....
