LAHORE: The 66th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Legislative Business was held at Civil Secretariat and it approved many proposals.
Punjab Minister for Law and Cooperatives Raja Basharat chaired the meeting while it was attended by the Senior Member Board of Revenue, irrigation secretary, I&C secretary and other officers concerned. The meeting considered legal amendments and drafts proposed by various departments.
The meeting approved the proposals and legal amendments, including proposal to hand over lower part of Chashma Right Bank Canal from Wapda to Punjab in the light of the decision of Common Interest Council. It also approved an agreement between the Board of Revenue Punjab and NADRA for online verification of data for issuance of computerized national identity cards, a consultancy agreement with the World Bank to deal with natural disasters and climate change. ....

LAHORE: The 57th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Legislative Business Wednesday approved the proposed amendments to the Standards for Regulation of Third Category Maternal and Child Centres in Punjab and the proposed amendments to the Lahore Leads University Act regarding appointment of vice-chancellor and members of the board of directors.
The meeting chaired by Provincial Minister for Law and Cooperatives Raja Basharat also approved the draft of Punjab Workers Welfare Housing Allotment Policy 2021.
The matters which have been adjourned for further consideration include proposed amendments to the Punjab Mining Concession Rules, 2002; amendments to the relevant rules for determining the category of hotels and restaurants in Punjab and the Katchi Abadis Regulation Scheme 2012 proposed by the Board of Revenue. ....

LAHORE:Punjab Assembly Finance Committee meeting was held under chairmanship of Punjab Assembly Speaker Ch Pervaiz Elahi which approved annual budget of financial year 2021-22 of the assembly secretariat here on Wednesday.
Keeping in view dangerous surge in third wave of corona and increasing cases in the educational institutions, Ch Pervaiz Elahi said educational institutions and private educational academies should immediately be closed down.
“Corona is spreading among children very speedily. In a recent survey it was noticed that ratio of death of children due to corona has dangerously increased. If the country’s future has to be saved then we will have to save lives of our children and youth,” the speaker said. ....

Introduction of Punjab Fertilizer Bill 2020: Fertilizer industry for taking all stakeholders on board

LAHORE: The fertilizer industry has asked the Punjab government to take all stakeholders on board while introducing the Punjab Fertilizer Bill 2020 for a more judicious view and avoiding any issue after the bill is introduced.
A committee headed by Law Minister Raja Basharat is currently reviewing the draft of the Punjab Fertilizer Bill 2020. However, the industry officials believe that input from stakeholders always strengthens the legislation by addressing the implementation issues at the drafting stage. The industry officials believed if the all stakeholders are not addressed at the drafting stage, it may lead to disruption of business environment. The proposed laws are against the spirit of the Fertilizer Policy 2001 which provides for deregulation of fertilizer products. Hence, it may lead to chaos at the national level. LAHORE: Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Cooperatives Raja Basharat has said the impression that the government would come to end by PDMâs rallies is completely wrong.
Talking to the media here on Wednesday, he said the PTI government under the leadership of Imran Khan was sincerely serving people. Inshallah this government will successfully complete five years. We have put the country, destroyed by their corruption, on its feet. The countryâs development could not be digested by the opposition. It then wants to push the country into the ruins of its era, Raja Basharat said.
