Orangeville ambassador for Autism Speaks fundraises with Bubly stand

A local four-year-old was hard at work this past Saturday (July 24), raising money for a worthy cause.
Emma Thomas, local ambassador for the Orangeville and Area Autism Speaks Canada Walk on Wheels Car Parade, operated a Bubly stand in front of the Orangeville Public Library’s Mill Street location along Broadway, with the help of her family.
The stand was open from approximately 10:00 a.m. to 1 p.m., selling Bubly beverages, as well as car decals, custom cups, and flags that read “Team Emma” to fundraise for the Walk on Wheels Car Parade, which takes place on Sept. 26. ....

Johanna Dosen

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Johanna Tellervo Dosen (nee Jamsa), at the age of 67 on Wednesday May 19, 2021. She passed away peacefully at home with her family surrounding her.
Johanna was born on July 18, 1953 in Kannus Finland and immigrated to Thunder Bay Ontario with her family in 1957. She grew up in a large Finnish family and took part in many cultural activities. During her early years she spent time with her family at Pohjanpirtti on Surprise Lake enjoying saunas, swimming, and other activities.
After meeting her husband Milan, she soon adopted and became a member of the Croatian Community in Thunder Bay. She volunteered her time at the Croatian Rec Centre Velebit. Family was her main priority and love. She looked forward to her visits to spend time with her children and grandchildren out west. Her grandchildren were of the utmost importance to her. ....

Orangeville celebrates World Autism Day

The Austism Ontario flag has been hoisted at Orangeville Town Hall today (Apr. 6).
It’s in celebration of World Autism Day- a day dedicated to raising awareness about the neurological disorder that affects one in every 66 children.
This year Autism Speaks Canada’s campaign initiative is to “Light it Up Blue” to show support, understanding and acceptance for people with autism. ....
