Disciplinary hearing ordered against Dr. Dzamalala over Covid-19 vaccinations


Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC) has ordered the Medical Council of Malawi to institute disciplinary hearing against renowned pathologist, Dr. Charles Dzamalala over his involvement in a discriminatory CoVID-19 vaccination arrangement that took place between March 20-21.
The Commission carried out an investigation on Malmed Health Care Services Limited, a Blantyre-based clinic, in which Dzamalala is the Medical Director and also one of the three owners, where the renowned pathologist was involved in special arrangement between the clinic and Blantyre District Health Office (DHO) to accord Asian/Indian Community preferential treatment for CoVID-19 vaccine on a Sunday, March 21.

THE Human Rights Commission, when it is finally set up, must be made up of people from diverse backgrounds to protect the interests of people from various backgrounds.
Non-governmental organisation (NGO) Development for Peace Education (DPE) said this in its submission to the National Reforms Authority (NRA) on the draft Human Rights Commission Bill of 2020. The draft bill seeks to repeal the Human Rights Commission Act of 2016.
Once passed, the bill will enact a new founding legislation for the Human Rights Commission. ....

Malawians will have to wait a little longer to know findings of the investigations into alleged sexual harassment of female workers at the public broadcaster, the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC).
Sumbuleta: Faces probe
The state-funded human rights watchdog, the Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC), which is investigating the matter, has said the investigation may take a little long to finish because of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) scare.
The Commission is investigating the alleged perpetrator of the sexual harassment, the former MBC Director General Aubrey Sumbuleta, pursuant to its mandate under the Constitution, Human Rights Commission Act and the Gender Equality Act. ....
