Long Beach Vaccination Clinics expand to administer COVID-19 vaccine to older adults

After beginning vaccine clinics Monday, Jan. 11, for healthcare workers, the Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services (Health Department) will build the next phase of vaccine clinics to serve older adults. Former Long Beach Mayor Beverly O’Neill, who is 90 years old, will participate in the first vaccine clinic for older adults this Saturday.
“Our older residents are among the folks most at-risk for severe illness from COVID-19, and I’m so glad we’ll soon be able to vaccinate older adults,” said Mayor Garcia. “We are moving aggressively to vaccinate all of our vulnerable seniors.”
Vaccinating older adults is also taking place at long-term health care facilities through a partnership with the federal government and local pharmacies as well as upcoming mobile teams operated through the Health Department. All 25 skilled nursing facilities in Long Beach have been visited, and vaccinations continue in the long-term care facilities and group homes via a p ....
