Cougar sighted in Woodburn; public asked to call deputies if spotted

Authorities are asking the public to be cautious and call law enforcement if they spot a cougar after the animal was seen in the Woodburn area Sunday.
Marion County Sheriff s Office deputies received calls about the sighting in the area of Butteville and Ten Oaks Lane near the Woodburn Premium Outlets. Callers reported the cougar was not afraid of humans or dogs. 
Complaints about cougars have tripled in the Willamette Valley since 2011, as reported previously by the Statesman Journal. The number of cougars killed due to human or livestock conflicts reached 169 animals in 2016, state records show. ....
