New and familiar faces favored in Marion Town Election

MARION Marion has decided.
Former Selectman Jon Henry and newcomer Alanna Nelson edged out incumbent Andrew Daniel in a five-way race for two positions on the Planning Board in Marion’s May 14 Town Election.
Of 4,335 registered voters in town, 565 or about 13% participated in Friday’s election.
Nelson received 245 votes and Henry earned 241. Falling short in the election were lifelong resident Tucker Burr with 213 votes, Daniel with 207 votes and Energy Management Committee member Tom Friedman with 107.
Nelson, an Energy management Committee member and resident since 2019, said she’s “grateful very grateful” to have won the election. ....

MARION It’s Election Day in Marion!
Residents can vote in today’s Town Election from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Benjamin D. Cushing Community Center.
The five-way race for two spots on the Planning Board is the only contested election on the ballot. 
Running for the two positions are incumbent Andrew Daniel, Alanna Nelson and Tom Friedman of the Energy Management Committee, former Selectman Jon Henry and lifelong resident Tucker Burr.
While Daniel is running for reelection to his position on the board, the second open position was left by the resignation of Kristen St. Don-Campbell. ....

What you need to know for Marion Town Election

MARION Town Election is on May 14, and voters will be able to cast their ballots from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Benjamin D. Cushing Community Center.
Early voting by mail is currently available to anyone who wishes to cast their ballot ahead of the election. Residents may request a ballot by printing the application found on marionma.gov, or by a signed, handwritten request.
Either must be returned to the town clerk’s office via email, mail or the drop box outside Town Hall before Monday, May 10, and the voted ballots must be returned to the town clerk by 7 p.m. on Friday, May 14. ....

Marion nomination papers due by March 22

MARION There is still time to pull nomination papers for the upcoming Town Election on May 14.
Those who would like to pull nomination papers can contact Town Clerk Elizabeth Magauran via email at lmagauran@marionma.gov or by phone at 508-748-3502. 
Positions are open on the Board of Selectmen, Board of Health, Planning Board, Marion School Committee, Marion Open Space Acquisition Commission, and Board of Assessors. The position of Moderator is also up for election.
Election papers are are due to be returned to the town clerk’s office by March 22.

Town elections are coming up in May for Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester, and candidates are starting to submit their intent.
Town Election in Marion is on May 14, and seats are availabe on the Board of Health, Board of Assessors, Board of Selectmen, Planning Board, Marion Open Space Acquisition Commission, and the Marion School Committee.
Two spots each are up for election on the Marion School Committee and Planning Board. Board Vice Chair Andrew Davis and Kristen St. Don Campbell who resigned are up on the Planning Board. Michelle Ouellette Smith and April Rios are up on the School Committee. ....
