KUCHING: Sarawak reported 513 new Covid-19 cases and six deaths on Tuesday (May 25), along with a new community cluster in Miri. The state disaster management committee said the Miri, Bintulu, Sibu, Samarahan and Kuching districts accounted for 317 or 61.79% of the new cases. Miri had the most cases with 94, followed by Bintulu (81), Sibu (49), Samarahan (48) and Kuching (45). Another 22 districts recorded between one and 30 new cases each, taking the state's cumulative tally to 43,326 with 261 deaths. The committee said the latest deaths included a 41-year-old man who was brought to the Miri Hospital on May 21 after being found unconscious at home. "He passed away on May 21. A Covid-19 swab on the same day returned a positive result," the committee said in a statement, adding that the case had no comorbidities.

The 14-day movement data on the distribution of new Covid-19 cases by districts in the peninsula from May 5 to 18 showed the number of positive cases in Malaysia during the period was 57,089. “Eight districts in the peninsula are in orange status, namely Langkawi, Kampar, Jelebu, Kuala Pilah, Rompin, Bera, Lipis and Marang, while the districts with yellow status are Kangar, Perak Tengah, Mersing, Cameron Highlands, Maran, Hulu Terengganu, Kemaman, Gua Musang, Padang Terap and Sik,” it said.
KUCHING: Sarawak reported 356 new Covid-19 cases on Monday (May 3), with 63% detected in five districts, says the state disaster management committee. In a statement, it said the highest numbers of cases were found in Miri (80), Sibu (74), Kuching (29), Sebauh (21) and Selangau (20). Other districts which recorded cases were Kapit (18), Pakan and Meradong (16 each), Subis (15), Bintulu (13), Sarikei (12), Song (11), Kanowit, Julau, Sri Aman and Betong (five each), Beluru, Samarahan and Tatau (two each) and Marudi, Saratok, Limbang, Bau and Mukah (one each). This takes the state's cumulative tally of confirmed cases to 32,047. The committee also said there were two fatalities, bringing the death toll to 184.
