JAMMU/SRINAGAR/LEH, Apr 23: In sudden spike in COVID deaths, Jammu and Kashmir today recorded this year’s single day highest 20 fatalities and 1937 fresh cases with Jammu district worst affected as it reported 525 positives, more than that of Srinagar district which reported 501.
Fourteen Corona casualties, six of them women including one each hailing from Mumbai in Maharashtra and Darbanga in Bihar and a 22-year-old youth besides 846 cases were reported in Jammu region while six persons succumbed to the virus and there were 1091 new cases in Kashmir. ....

LEH, Apr 17: The Govern-ment today reduced cap on gatherings and functions from 200 to 100 and also postponed Class 11th examinations as five more lives were lost to COVID including a 37-year-old woman of RS Pura and 40-year-old from Gorakh Nagar and 1145 tested positive in Jammu and Kashmir while the virus has infected 245 more people in the Union Territory of Ladakh including 236 in Leh and nine in Kargil prompting the administration to shut schools in Leh till April 30. ....

JAMMU/SRINAGAR, Apr 10: For the first time this year, Jammu and Kashmir today recorded COVID positive cases in four figures at 1005 including 706 in Kashmir and 299 in Jammu besides six COVID fatalities, five of which were reported in Jammu and Samba districts and include a 28-year-old youth.
Another Professor in Jammu University, posted in Chemistry Department, 38 female students of Priyadarshni and Sarojni Naidu hostels and five staff members besides 11 workers and staffers at Kiru project in Kishtwar district were found infected during testing for Coronavirus. ....
