The Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN), yesterday announced that it has sealed a total of 424 medicine shops in Abuja.
This followed tour of some parts of the Federal Capital Territory by the Pharmaceutical Inspection Committees (PICs).
The committee alongside that of Patent and Propriety Medicines Vendors Licence (PPMVL) were set up by PCN to monitor the activities of medicine shops with the aim of ensuring that they operate within the law.
At the end of one-week enforcement exercise in Abuja, it stated that a total of 644 premises comprising 216 pharmacies and 428 patent medicine shops were visited out of which 424 premises comprising 99 pharmacies and 325 patent medicine shops were sealed for various offences. ....

The Pharmacists Council of Nigeria has shut down 424 illegal pharmacies and patent medicine shops within the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The registrar of the council, Pharmacist Elijah Mohammed, disclosed this on Friday while briefing newsmen in Abuja.
Represented by the Director, Enforcement of the agency, Pharmacist Stephen Esumobi, he said 99 pharmacies and 325 patent medicine shops were sealed out of a total of 644 premises visited during the enforcement exercise at the beginning of the week.
He said: “At the end of the enforcement exercise, a total of 644 premises comprising 216 pharmacies and 428 patent medicine shops were visited. ....

PCN seals 299 illegal medicine shop in Sokoto

The Pharmacist Council of Nigeria (PCN) has sealed nothing less than 299 shops for different offences out of a total number of 536 shops visited by the team.
The affected shops which according to a press statement made available to newsmen in the state on Thursday by the registrar of the association, Pharmacist Elijah Mohammed, includes 37 Pharmacies and 262 Patent Medicine Shops.
According to the press statement which was signed by the registrar and addressed by the Director Enforcement Pharmacists Council of Nigeria, Stephen Esumobi, their offences as operating without registration with the association.
The offence includes failure to renew premises license, dispensing ethical products without the supervision of a pharmacist, poor storage and sanitary conditions among others. ....
