The Post and Telecommunications Department (Jamaica Post) has been chided for its involvement in the reopening of the Guy s Hill Post Office in St Catherine despite the building failing to meet the basic requirements of the parish’s public health department. The St Catherine Health Department has been forced to take action, resulting in the Guy s Hill Post Office being taken to court last month for breaches of a closure notice under the Public Health Act. In August 2017, the rural area post office was closed by the health authorities because the building had fallen into a state of disrepair. Additionally, part of the roof had carved in, which caused leaks, and rats had infested the building. ....
