Coney tradition runs deep in Jackson family’s new restaurant

JACKSON, MI Coneys are in the Lazaroff family’s blood.
So when Becky Lazaroff decided to open a restaurant with her sons, Alex and Max, coneys came naturally.
The three opened Northwest Coney Island on Monday, Feb. 8, at 6070 Clinton Road, near Northwest High School. The diner and coney dog restaurant is in the former Mountie High Malt Shop space.
“It’s working out,” Lazaroff said as the phone rang with takeout orders on Wednesday, Feb. 10.
Lazaroff ran Jackson Coney Island with her now late husband, Phil, from 1999 to 2007 and still owns the building today. ....
