Although I am not hundred percent sure, I feel the term “executive” is often used very loosely. I don’t think there is a universal definition for executive.
To put it into some international context. For us executives used to be everybody one level removed from the CEO. In essence if your boss is part of the CEO Leadership team you were considered an executive.
In a company like with say 100.000 employees worldwide we would have about 200 executives. They were known as the top200. So it tends to be literally the top of the hierarchical pyramid. ....
