Amherst officials hopeful local COVID vaccination clinics will resume

AMHERST Town officials remain hopeful that its local COVID-19 vaccination sites will resume operations early next month, despite the state’s recent decision to stop supplying doses to local boards of health.
“I expect to make an announcement along these lines in the very near future in the hope that we can launch our site in early March,” Town Manger Paul Bockelman said in a memo to the Amherst Town Council on Saturday.
The town had been running clinics at locations including the Bangs Center and Amherst-Pelham Regional High School. But last week Gov. Charlie Baker’s administration announced it would stop supplying doses to boards of health in all but 20 communities hardest hit by the pandemic. ....
