Zambia : The government says it has prioritized harnessing of the youths demographic dividend in its plan

The government says it has prioritized harnessing of the demographic dividend through its eighth national development plan using the Demographic Dividend Operational Plan (DDOP).
Muchinga Province Permanent Secretary Captain Davison Mulenga says it is a well-known fact that Zambia’s population largely consists of youths saying this is the main reason why the DDOP is being utilized to come up with the eighth national development plan ( ENDP).
Capt. Mulenga said the DDOP is key if the country is to achieve its vision 2030 which reflects the collective understanding, aspirations, and determination of the Zambian people to become a prosperous middle-income nation by the year 2030. ....

Zambia : Church, Funeral gatherings must be restricted

Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary Elias Kamanga is concerned that churches and funerals have continued to be super-spreaders of covid-19 and has called for restricting to such public gatherings.
Mr. Kamanga notes that the death of a number of the clergy is evidence that the disease is being spread in places of worship saying more needs to be done to ensure adherence to health guidelines.
Speaking during a virtual covid-19 multi-sectoral committee meeting yesterday, Mr. Kamanga noted that people have continued to gather in large numbers in churches and funerals.
“This is the case even when the deceased is reported to have died from covid 19, people will be at funerals in large numbers disregarding the health guidelines,” he said. ....

Zambia : Kamanga expresses concern over poor health services civil servants are receiving from NHIMA

Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary Elias Kamanga has expressed concern over the poor health services that civil servants have been receiving from the National Health Insurance Management (NHIMA).
Mr Kamanga noted that his office had lately received concerns from civil servants on the mismanagement of NHIMA saying a lasting solution needs to be found for the statute body to improve on the service delivery.
“A follow-up on NHIMA’s poor service delivery will be made and feedback will be given in due course,“he said.
The Provincial Permanent Secretary highlighted this concern during the Provincial Development Coordinating Committee (PDCC) 4th Quarter Report meeting which was held virtually. ....
