How 10 Boxing Day drinks cost Plainland store worker $1200

After consuming 10 drinks on Boxing Day, Dylan Jason Herd got behind the wheel of his car and started to drive to a mate’s place.
But police were out on patrol and intercepted his vehicle on Laidley Plainland Road at Plainland, on December 26.
He produced a positive alcohol reading, and further tests revealed he had a blood alcohol reading of 0.185.
In the Gatton Magistrates Court on Monday, January 11, Magistrate Graham Lee told Herd that the reading was “getting pretty high”.
Herd, 24, from Plainland, initially wanted an adjournment for one charge of driving under the influence of liquor. ....

Driver flees after 50m skiddy ends up in power pole crash

ALLAN Mulhall pulled out of the driveway, did a 50 metre skiddy across both sides of the road before crashing his purple falcon through a mailbox and into a power pole.
He tried to reverse, but the car was stuck.
He exited the vehicle and began running towards the house at Regency Downs he had just left from and drove away with a woman in a different car.
That s what the Gatton Magistrates Court heard when the 51-year-old appeared for three charges on Monday, January 11.
But Mulhall, who owns an excavation business, said the road was littered with gravel and he was not in the habit of reckless driving. ....

THERE was no shortage of Lockyer Valley residents getting busted for cannabis possession, production and/or supplying in 2020.
The
Gatton Star has compiled a list of some of those who were convicted in the Gatton Magistrates Court for weed this year.
Melissa Lynette Dixon pleaded guilty on November 16 to four offences including charges of unlawfully possessing cannabis, unlawfully possessing a water pipe used for smoking cannabis and committing a public nuisance offence.
Police prosecutor senior sergeant Al Windsor said that as police walked towards Dixon’s door on September 9, they smelled burning cannabis from within the house. ....

Lockyer construction worker imprisoned over drug charges

A MAGISTRATE told a Glenore Grove man that imprisonment was a sentence of last resort as he convicted the repeat drug offender for his crimes.
Mathew William Beer pleaded guilty to four charges in Gatton Magistrates Court on Monday, December 14 after police were called to his Forest Ave address in August.
Beer was charged with possessing methamphetamines, possessing cannabis, possessing a straw used in the administration of a dangerous drug and possessing clip seal bags, grinders and scales used in committing a drug offence.
Police prosecutor senior Sergeant Al Windsor said police were called to Beer s address at 2am on August 4, to assist paramedics with a drug affected male. ....

'Just marijuana': Forest Hill man cops massive fine for weed

A FOREST HILL man repeatedly told the magistrate his drugs were just marijuana before he was handed a stiff fine in the Gatton court on Monday.
Alex Robert Cristina told the court he had been smoking marijuana since he was 12 years old.
His Forest Hill home was raided by police on November 27, after officers were tipped off.
Police prosecutor senior sergeant Al Windsor said when police searched Cristina s property, they located 17.4 grams of cannabis in a clip seal bag, and 0.5 grams in a bowl.
Police also found an electric grinder, water pipe and scissors which had all been used in the connection of smoking cannabis, sergeant Windsor said. ....
