The winning schools for a TREEmendous Education Programme for 2021 have been selected. Five schools from around the country have won an environmental project for their school as part of the TREEmendous Education Programme, an initiative from the Mazda Foundation.

The five schools – Whanganui Intermediate, Wainui Beach School in Gisborne, Karetu School in Northland, Waitara East in Taranaki and Riverina in Auckland – will each receive a visit from Mazda ambassadors Ruud – the Bugman – Kleinpaste and Shark Scientist, Dr Riley Elliott who will talk to the whole school on sustainability and the importance of looking after our environment. ....

The Paper Cranes Project symbolizes a bright future and
hope for children
Mazda New Zealand and
Make A Wish Foundation New Zealand would like to invite
Kiwis to create origami cranes to place on the Children’s
Peace Monument in Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park.
According to Japanese tradition, folding 1,000 paper cranes
gives you a chance to make one special wish come
true.
The joint initiative will also help Make A Wish
grant wishes to Kiwi children with Mazda NZ donating $1000
to Make A Wish New Zealand for every thousand cranes
made.

That’s easy – Mazda is taking a different approach to greener matters by only putting vehicles on sale in markets that they will actually make a difference in. A market that derives most of its electricity from burning coal, for example, will get more fuel efficient vehicles, like hybrids (because what use is an EV if you are burning coal to power it?), while a market like ours that generates most of its electricity from clean or renewable sources get the EVs sooner. ....

Fancy an all-electric station wagon but also really want a Porsche? Guess what.
Finally, a high-performance, fully electric station wagon! The Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo is coming, albeit without the big daddy Turbo S model. As you might expect, it adds storage space and jacks the ride up a bit for more off-roadability. Porsche is also set to introduce a less expensive base model of the sedan, simply called Taycan. It’s the first rear-wheel drive one though, so it should be good fun, despite being lower on power than the other models.
