Chennai, April 8 : The Madras University has made Covid-19 negative test reports compulsory for those who would be attending the 163rd convocation of the varsity in view of the rising coronavirus cases.
Tamil Nadu Governor and Chancellor of Madras University, Banwarilal Purohit will preside over the convocation ceremony of the University to be held on Thursday.
Dr. Bhaskar Ramamurthy, Director, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras will be the chief guest for the function.

Faculty members of the University of Ghana (UG) have through a letter indicated that they are not against the construction of the Commonwealth Annex Hall as claimed by members of the Commonwealth Halls.
They are advising rioting students to be wary of the actions they take.
The Commonwealth Hall Annex is a project being spearheaded by the Alumni of the Commonwealth Hall of the University.
The project when completed will have a fully-furnished 4,660-bed capacity, together with an 8,000 capacity auditorium, and a shopping mall. ....

Legon lecturers react to Commonwealth Hall students threats over annex project

In a letter written by Prof. Nana Akua Anyidoho on behalf of the faculty, she categorically mentioned that the unsavoury comments from the students were indicative of deliberate misinformation about the impending project.
At a recent press conference organized by the students to protest their displeasure over the stalling of the project, the aggrieved students, however, accused the lecturers of sabotage warning that they would do everything possible to ensure that the project was executed.

The journey to becoming a graduate is certainly not easy in a country like Sri Lanka. If you pass the GCE
Advanced Level exam with a high Z-score, you can pursue a degree at a State University. But there are also occasions where even a high Z-score cannot guarantee admission to the programme of your choice due to the limited number of scholarships available.
The secondary and often less desired option is to pursue a degree from a private university, which of course is costly.
Therefore a degree from a State university is still in high demand in Sri Lanka. Despite its numerous benefits, it is unfortunate that it takes several extra years to complete a three-year degree programme at a State university in Sri Lanka. ....
