Former High Sheriff of Dorset joins Lewis-Manning Hospice Care team

A FORMER High Sheriff of Dorset has joined a Poole-based hospice care charity as a patron.
Jacqueline Swift, who is currently Deputy Lieutenant of the county, has been welcomed by the team at Lewis-Manning Hospice Care.
Ms Swift joins with a wealth and depth of knowledge and expertise in the Dorset healthcare sector, having previously worked as vice chair of the NHS Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group, as well as holding a number of senior executive roles in the private sector.
She said: “I am delighted to become a Patron of Lewis- Manning Hospice Care. ....

THE NEWLY declared High Sheriff of Dorset has visited Lewis-Manning Hospice Care and looks forward to fully supporting the charity during his term in office.
Michael Dooley FRCOG took time out to visit the hospice on his maiden official visit in his new role.
During his visit, the new High Sherrif met with staff from the hospice, including the Director of Fundraising Tom Goodinge and Day Hospice Clinical Team Manager Debbie Tallick-Wyatt, to understand more about the challenges and opportunities that the charity has faced over recent months. ....

Poole stroke survivor Molly Tarrant, 84, rides to London

A big-hearted Dorset care home resident got on her bike to help a hospice charity despite the challenges of reduced mobility.
Stroke survivor Molly Tarrant, 84, used her static physiotherapy bike to cycle the equivalent 100-mile distance from Colten Care’s Bourne View in Poole to London.
The former factory supervisor has been unable to walk for more than two years and thought the bike ride would help with her physiotherapy and overall rehabilitation.
The ride was completed in daily sessions over several weeks with encouragement from carers at the home.
“I’ve done it,” said Molly in triumph as she clocked up the last mile, adding later: “It was very emotional and took a few minutes to sink in. I thank everyone who has helped me with this.” ....

VOLUNTEERS are needed to help run the Lewis Manning Hospice Care charity shop in Christchurch.
Lewis Manning Hospice Care runs charity shops in Westbourne, Wimborne, Ashley Cross and Christchurch to support the work it does.
The Christchurch charity shop opened in July 2020.
At that time Lewis Manning director of finance and operations said: We are thrilled to open this new addition to our charity shop chain.
Our charity shop income has been hit hard during lockdown, but we’ve been overwhelmed by the wonderful generosity of people from our local communities who have continued to think about us, despite their own personal challenges. ....
