Park City police log complaint about mask-less party, raising coronavirus worries

The Park City Police Department on Sunday night received a complaint about a party at a house involving people who were reportedly not wearing masks and were not social distancing, a case that was logged amid the continuing spread of the novel coronavirus and at a crucial time for the community’s tourism industry. The police received the report at 11:30 p.m. on Deer Valley Loop, a street off Deer Valley Drive along the entryway to Snow Park. The police were told there were 40 people at the house. The person who contacted the Police Department indicated they had an understanding that a gathering like the one on Deer Valley Loop was prohibited under rules designed to curb the spread of the sickness.

Park City police told of hot rod driver, donut driving stunts

The Park City Police Department last week received at least three reports of drivers performing stunts in various locations. The cases did not appear to be serious, but they were reported at a time of year when road conditions oftentimes become difficult with the start of winter. Someone on Homestake Road on Sunday, Dec. 13 at 11:14 a.m., reported a vehicle was driving in a “hot rod” manner and was performing a move known as drifting. The vehicle is a Subaru, the police were told. On Saturday, Dec. 12 at 11:43 p.m., meanwhile, a police officer saw a driver in a parking lot on Deer Valley Loop performing so-called donuts. The officer stopped the person and gave a warning verbally.

The Park City Police Department last week received a report of a party with loud people who were apparently encouraging others to drink alcohol in a manner popular with the collegiate crowd. On Friday, Dec. 4 at 10:50 p.m., the police were told of a party somewhere along Park Avenue. The people were yelling “chug, chug, chug,” the person told the police. There was also loud music. The person who contacted the Police Department said the there was a similar issue the previous night. The police logged the case as suspected disturbing the peace.
