KARACHI:
The trial of the suspects accused of killing 18-year-old Suleman Lashari at his home in 2014 entered the final stages on Thursday, when the last witness presented by the prosecution recorded his statement.
An anti-terrorism court heard the case at the Karachi Central Jail. The counsels are to present their final arguments at the next hearing.
Accused Salman Abro was produced before the court, where witness Yaseen Jamali recorded his statement.
Jamali was the last on the list of witnesses submitted by the prosecution. Witnesses, Maqbool Ahmed and Imran Ali, had recorded statements at the last hearing. ....

Sindh Gets its First Child-Friendly Juvenile Courts
Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court (SHC) Ahmed Ali M. Shaikh inaugurated the province’s first juvenile court on Tuesday.
According to an official statement, the juvenile court has been established in accordance with the Juvenile Justice System Act (JJSA) 2018 and the Constitution of Pakistan at the Malir District Court to speed up the judicial proceedings of cases involving children.

The court will conduct the hearings of complaints and cases against children below the age of 18 and will pass verdicts on such matters within six months of each case.
The SHC had collaborated with a civil society organization called ‘Group Development Pakistan (GDP)’ to transform the juvenile court premises into a child-friendly area that will be calming and stress-reducing. The court is also equipped with toys and books to help juvenile delinquents deal with pain and mental trauma in a stress-free environment ....

A man shot and injured the accused in his son s murder case in the waiting area outside the Malir District Court on Monday.
According to Malir SSP Irfan Bahadur, Khushdil was under trial for murdering 19-year-old Ahsan Ali in 2016. He added that the accused was likely to be acquitted by the court due to the lack of evidence against him. As a result, contended the SSP, Ali s father, Kifayatullah, arrived from Swabi and shot Khushdil before the hearing on Monday. ....
