Amit Shah accused the Shiv Sena of gaining power in the state by giving short shrift to the late Balasaheb Thackeray’s principles MUMBAI: Union home minister Amit Shah on Sunday denied that he had promised Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray that the chief-ministership would be kept rotational between the BJP and Shiv Sena after the 2019 assembly election. “No such promise was ever made to them. I make promises not in a closed-door room, but in public meetings out in the open, in a loud and clear voice,” he said at a gathering in Malwan . It was Shah’s first visit to the Konkan, the coastal region that the Shiv Sena covets as its bastion, after the 2019 state election. Shah was there to inaugurate a 150-seat medical college constructed by former chief minister Narayan Rane, an MP and NDA ally. ....
Minor Girl Sexually Assaulted, Accused Arrested SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday arrested an accused person within one hour involved in wrongful confinement and sexual assault of a minor girl in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. A police spokesman in a statement Police Station Devsar received a written complaint from one person stating therein that a minor girl was confined wrongfully and assaulted sexually by one person namely Abdul Rehman Laway son of Abdul Aziz Laway resident of Malwan, when she was alone at her home. “Accordingly, a case FIR No. 03/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Devsar and investigation was initiated,” said the spokesman. ....

The families have been clinging on to the hope that their dear ones are alive and will come back. They have been requesting the authorities to find out and bring back the fishermen who were the pillars of support to their families. The boat titled Suvarna Tribhuja had sailed off from Malpe fishing port on December 13, 2018. From midnight of December 15, all contact was lost with the boat. Thereafter efforts were made to find out what had actually happened to the boat and fishermen, but in vain. After lot of efforts, remains of the boat were found on May 1 about 33 km away fro ....
Kashmir valley receive fresh snowfall, several highways, roads closed Srinagar, Dec 12 (UNI) The world famous ski resort of Gulmarg and other heights besides plains, including summer capital Srinagar, in the Kashmir valley experienced fresh snowfall on Saturday, when the Sun was playing hide and seek providing some relief to people. Union Territory (UT)of Ladakh, including border town of Kargil, Drass, Meenmarg and Zojila also received snowfall. Snowfall disrupted traffic movement on several highways and roads. Air traffic at Srinagar International Airport was also disrupted for some time in the morning. Though the weather warning has ended, fairly widespread light rain and snow over Jammu and Kashmir division and isolated light rain and snow in Ladakh region and scattered light rain and snow in Gilgit and Baltistan in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) during the next 24 hours, a Met department spokesman said today. ....
