3,800 families affected as 'Auring' starts onslaught in Caraga – Manila Bulletin

BUTUAN CITY – Three thousand, eight-hundred fifty-eight families or 14,233 individuals have been affected as tropical storm “Auring” (international name “Dujuan”) began pounding Northeastern Mindanao or the Caraga region with heavy rains and winds Sunday.
A progress report of the regional and action disaster monitoring center of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) here said  3,403 families or 12,081 individuals were temporarily evacuated in various evacuation centers spread in the five provinces and six cities in the region.
Seventy-eight evacuation centers have been opened in different areas in the region while some 84 families or 381 individuals have evacuated outside evacuation centers. ....

Caraga region braces for Storm 'Auring' – Manila Bulletin

BUTUAN CITY – All rescue teams of different Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (DRRMCs) in Northeastern Mindanao or Caraga region are gearing up for “Auring” Friday, February 19, which has already developed into a tropical storm.
Tropical cyclone wind signal No. 1 is raised over several provinces and cities in the region as early as Friday morning.
The command and action center of the regional Office of Civil Defense (OCD) now closely monitoring all DRRMCs spread in the five provinces and six cities in Caraga region, awaiting any development from their different areas.
The regional office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) here also in full preparation of family food packs for local government units (LGUs) immediate assistance. ....

P11B worth of infra projects delivered in Eastern Visayas
THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed P11 billion worth of infrastructure projects in the Eastern Visayas Region last year, including roads, bridges, and flood-control structures. In a statement on Wednesday, the department said it delivered P6.5 billion worth of national road projects covering 311.5 kilometers, 12 bridges at a cost of P1.2 billion, and 99 flood-control structures  worth P3.3 billion. The funds were sourced from the 2020 national budget. “I would like to commend our Regional and District Engineering Offices nationwide for the timely delivery of these infrastructure projects that will be the main player in our country’s economic recovery from COVID-19,” said DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, noting that the construction works were undertaken amid the pandemic-related restrictions.
