Srinagar, May 14: The Division Bench of High Court said the detenu continued to provide the logistic support to the militants as such upheld his detention as also the writ court judgment whereby by his plea for quashing the detention was dismissed. Court quashed the detention of other detenu and directed for his immediate release from the preventive custody.
The detenu Abdul Hamid Mir of District Handwara has preferred and appeal against the judgment and order dated 23.10.2020 passed by the writ court by virtue of which his petition challenging therein the detention was dismissed and the order of detention dated 17.07.2019 passed against him by the District Magistrate Kupwara was upheld. ....

It was also decided that awareness programmes shall be conducted across the district especially in the regions known for illicit cultivation about the provision of NDPS Act and harmful effects of drugs.
The meeting also discussed assessing requirements of equipment for drug detection and submitting proposals for requisition of the same.
It was given out in the meeting that the Committee shall monitor the progress of investigation in cases having cross state implication.

KUPWARA: Cases of avian influenza popularly known as bird flu have been found among dead crows in at least three areas north Kashmir’s Kupwara district prompting administration to order immediate measures to contain the spread of the disease.
Soon after the confirmation of the cases, District Magistrate Kupwara has declared a one-kilometer radius from the epicentre as infected zone while areas extending upto 10 kilometers radius have been declared as alert zones.
Quoting an official communique issued by DC Kupwara, the positive cases of Avian Influenza among dead crows have been reported in Payerpora Gulgam, and District Treasury premises of the district. ....
